The method I chose was on this website . I have seen many ways to do the same thing, this one appeared to appeal to me, but I wish it had not. You'll get cancer from it but it removes the old crud an leaves the rubber looking like new. I discovered it by accident when I was restoring an old Landcruiser and used it on all the hoses etc.
